Step 1: Specifying the Circuits
When programming two systems to use tie line connections, note that both systems must have
the same number of actual circuits and trunks.
NOTE: Generally, a T-1 circuit between two systems with mismatched line types will ring the T-1 lines
when the circuit is first connected, and will continue to ring until the lines are programmed correctly.
In the example below, there is an FX system and a DXP system linked together by tie lines using
a T-1 circuit (direct connection.)
• The FX system has two tie line trunks located on a T-1 board in the 7
th
slot of the system.
• The DXP system has two tie line trunks on a T-1 board in its 5
th
slot.
