VMMI Programming Exercises
GCA39-082 Rev 2, Issue 9/01 Page 14 Printed in the USA
Testing the Setup
Task Expected Results
1. Locate the file Class.dbr you created using
Windows Explorer:
To open Explorer, right click the Start Button
and select Explore.
Once you locate the file, open it by double
clicking on it.
You may get a dialog box asking you what
program to use (Open With). If so, VMMI won’t
appear in the list of programs, you need to click
on the Other button and locate Vmmi.exe in the
Comdial \ VMMI\Program folder. Click on it and
click OK. This will associate any .dbr file with
VMMI on your PC.
Explorer will show a window with all the folders on your C
drive listed on the left. Find the Comdial folder. Double
click to open that folder, then the VMMI folder, then the
Program folder. The window on the right will show all the
files in the Program folder.
Once you double-click on the database file, it loads into
VMMI.
2. Verify the board configuration:
Go to File, Print Preview
Select Board Configuration by moving it to the
Selected Items column.
Click on the Preview button to see a print
preview.
The boards and slots indicated should match your
entries.
This operation will not work if you don’t have a printer
installed in the control panel of your PC.
3. Verify the intercom numbering:
Go to File, Print Preview.
Select Station Port Locations by moving it to
the Selected Items column.
Click on the Preview button to see a print
preview.
Numbering should begin at 1001 and continue
consecutively through all the ports you selected in your
programming assignment.
This operation will not work if you don’t have a printer
installed in the control panel of your PC.
4. Verify the phone models:
In VMMI select Ctrl-Shift-S. Click the top of the
middle column Feature Name. This will sort the
column alphabetically a to z. Click it again and
it reverses the sort from z to a. This sorting
allows you to look in the column for the term
Phone Model. Highlight that line and go to the
top right of the page. Click the right or left arrow
keys in the tool bar. This will advance forward
or backward from port to port and display the
Phone Model for each port in the row you
highlighted earlier.
The phone models indicated should match your entries.
Exercise Review
Offline database programming is an alternative way to program rather than connecting
directly to an actual telephone system. This offers a freedom to work away from the site
